The purpose of this policy is to provide a safe and secure environment for children with autism who receive services at the BBLC support centre.

Our Responsibilities:

  1. The BBLC management team is responsible for creating and implementing the safety policy, as well as providing training for staff and volunteers on the policy.

  2. All staff and volunteers are responsible for following the safety policy and reporting any safety hazards or incidents to the BBLC management team.

  3. Parents and guardians are responsible for informing BBLC centre staff of any special needs, medical conditions, or allergies that their children may have.

General Safety Guidelines:

  1. All staff and volunteers must receive background checks before being allowed to work with children.

  2. The BBLC centre must have a secure entrance, and the entrance door must be locked during operating hours.

  3. The BBLC centre must have an emergency response plan in place, including evacuation procedures, first aid training, and communication plans.

  4. All staff and volunteers must receive training on autism, behaviour management, and de-escalation techniques.

  5. Staff and volunteers must maintain a safe and secure environment by supervising children at all times, monitoring any aggression or self-injurious behaviour, and intervening appropriately to prevent harm.

  6. The BBLC centre must maintain a clean and hygienic environment, and follow proper sanitation protocols to prevent the spread of illnesses.

  7. The BBLC centre must have a plan in place for administering medication to children, and staff must be properly trained to administer medication.

  8. The BBLC centre must have a policy on transportation, including pick-up and drop-off procedures, transportation safety, and proper use of child safety seats.

Conclusion:

By following the safety policy, we can create a safe and secure environment for children with autism to receive services at the BBLC support centre. We are committed to providing high-quality care while promoting the safety, health, and well-being of the children and staff.
